A year and a half ago, an accident turned my world upside down. that literally snapped my bones and figuratively snapped me out of my old world to pause, reflect, and, ultimately, redefine my path. Looking back, I realize that life has a way of guiding us to where we truly belong. And today, I stand here knowing that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
Before this journey, I thought life skills were just the basics-how to cook, clean, and work to get by. But after joining empowHER India, I realized life skills are so much more. They're about truly living, not just surviving. They shape how we make decisions, deal with emotions, manage money, communicate, and stand up for ourselves. In short, life skills are the real game-changers—the windows to the future.
In cities, we're all chasing after something—luxury, success, comfort. But when I travelled to villages, I saw families fighting daily battles just to survive. And yet, their spirit is unbreakable. They reminded me that strength isn't about what you have-it's about how you live. I met incredible women with stories that made me stop and think. What are we all running towards? A title? Stability? Recognition? Sure, maybe. But life isn’t just about personal success; it's about making the world a better place to live.
Honestly, I wish I had learned these life skills earlier. Schools drill academics into us, but they often skip the lessons that truly prepare us for life. And it's not just kids who need them—adults do, too. The world is constantly changing, and so are we. Sometimes, we lose ourselves in the chaos. But life skills help us stay grounded. They teach us to understand ourselves, make better choices, and actually live instead of just going through the motions.
One thing I've realised? These skills don't care about gender, caste, or background. They're for everyone. They're the invisible yet powerful tools that can change lives and entire communities. That's why I believe life skills aren't just important-they're essential.
The more I learn, the more I see how much we all need these skills-not just in rural villages but in cities, offices, and homes. At the end of the day, we're all human. We get influenced, we mess up, we lose our way. But knowing who we are and what truly matters? That's what brings us back on track. And that’s exactly what life skills do-they guide us toward a future where we don’t just exist but actually thrive.
So let's open these windows to the future-not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us.
